Red Sangria Recipe

Red sangria may look extravagant, but it’s actually the simplest cocktail to make. The hardest part is holding back from drinking it while it sets.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 45 minutes
Servings 6

Ingredients

  • 1 (750 ml) bottle red wine, such as Grenache, Rioja, Cabernet Sauvignon or Malbec, chilled
  • ½ cup brandy
  • 2 large oranges, one freshly juiced + one diced
  • 1 large lemon, ½ juiced + ½ diced
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • ¾ cup fresh raspberries
  • ½ cup green apple, diced
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 8 large fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 2 red plums, pitted and sliced ¼ inch thick
  • ice in each glass for serving

Instructions

  • Add wine and brandy to a tall pitcher.
  • Juice one of the oranges and half of the lemon. Then add the juices to the pitcher. Saving the second orange and remaining lemon half for later.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of sugar and stir until it has completely dissolved into the wine, 20-30 seconds.
  • Slice the remaining orange and lemon half and add to the pitcher along with all of the other fruit.
  • Stir, cover, and chill for at least 30 minutes and up to a day in advance to give the fruit a chance to infuse the wine.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours, though best when fresh.
  • Fill each glass with ice, sangria and ensure you get lots of the delicious fruits in each glass.
