Ingredients

French Toast

  • 1 loaf of brioche bread 10-12 pieces, sliced 3/4”-thick slices
  • 4 eggs whisked
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon each of salt + freshly ground pepper
  • unsalted butter for buttering the griddle approx 4-6 tablespoons

Toppings

  • maple syrup drizzled
  • pat of butter

Additional Topping Options:

  • icing sugar, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries. Get creative, the options are endless!

Instructions

  • If using an electric griddle, preheat the griddle to 350 degrees F.
  • In a shallow bowl or pie plate (wide enough to place a slice of the bread), add the eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar, salt and pepper. Whisk until well combined.
  • Lightly grease a hot griddle or in a large skillet over medium heat with a little butter, spreading evenly over the surface with your spatula.
  • Dip each side of the bread in the egg mixture about 5 seconds per side, allowing the bread to soak in the deliciousness.
  • Shake off the excess egg mixture from the bread and place the bread slices onto the hot skillet. Cook the French toast until golden brown on the underside, about 3 minutes on each side.
  • Repeat with remaining slices of bread.
  • Serve the French toast warm, topped with a slice of butter and maple syrup and any other desired toppings.
