Ingredients

  • 24 ounces cranberries cleaned (6 cups - 2 regular 12 ounce bags)
  • zest from 1 large orange
  • 4 cups freshly squeezed orange juice (regular no pump orange juice also works)
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • cup brown sugar
  • cinnamon stick
  • pinch salt

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, brown sugar, orange zest, freshly squeezed orange juice, a cinnamon stick and salt.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer, stirring occasionally until cranberries pop, become tender and the mixture thickens slightly, about 25-30 minutes. (Sauce will thicken more as it cools.)
  • Remove from heat; let cool completely. Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve.
