Christmas Crack Recipe

This Christmas crack recipe is made with crisp saltine crackers layered with buttery homemade toffee, melted chocolate, and festive holiday toppings. Itโ€™s an easy holiday treat that bakes quickly, sets up beautifully, and is perfect for gifting, dessert platters, and Christmas entertaining.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Cooling Time 2 hours
Total Time 2 hours 20 minutes
Servings 24 pieces

Ingredients

  • 35-50 saltine crackers enough to fully cover the pan
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ยฝ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2-1 cup holiday red and green sprinkles or red and green M&Mโ€™s optional
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  • Prepare the pan โ€” Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF. Line a 10 x 15-inch jelly roll pan with nonstick foil and lightly coat with cooking spray.
  • Arrange the crackers โ€” Place the saltine crackers in a single, even layer across the pan, breaking crackers as needed so the pan is fully covered.
  • Make the toffee โ€” In a 3-quart heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together, stirring frequently.
  • Boil the toffee โ€” Once the mixture comes to a boil, continue boiling for 3 full minutes, stirring almost constantly to prevent scorching.
  • Finish the toffee โ€” Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  • Add the toffee layer โ€” Immediately pour the hot toffee evenly over the crackers, spreading quickly with an offset spatula.
  • Bake โ€” Bake for 5โ€“7 minutes, until the toffee is bubbling vigorously.
  • Add the chocolate โ€” Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let sit for 5 minutes, then gently spread into an even layer.
  • Add the toppings โ€” Sprinkle holiday sprinkles or M&Mโ€™s over the melted chocolate while still warm.
  • Cool and set โ€” Let the Christmas crack cool completely at room temperature, or refrigerate for at least 2 hours until fully set.
  • Break into pieces โ€” Peel away the foil and break into pieces by hand or cut with a knife.

Winter Favorites

Eggnog Espresso Martini

Eggnog espresso martini made with espresso, eggnog, spiced rum, and coffee liqueur, served in coupe glasses with a cinnamon garnish

If you love a good espresso martini, wait until you try it holiday-style with eggnog. This Eggnog Espresso Martini is smooth, creamy, lightly spiced, and tastes like Christmas in every sip. Bold espresso meets festive eggnog, coffee liqueur, spiced rum, and a touch of vanilla โ€” shaken ice-cold for a velvety-rich winter cocktail everyone will love. I tested a few versions before landing on this balance โ€” creamy without being heavy, coffee-forward without overpowering the eggnog. Best part? It comes together in minutes. Just shake, pour, and enjoy a restaurant-style martini right at home....

Spinach Artichoke Dip

Spoon lifting creamy spinach artichoke dip with melted, golden cheese.

Spinach artichoke dip is one of those cozy, crowd-pleasing appetizers that shows up at every great party โ€” but this version has a little twist that makes all the difference. I add just ยผ teaspoon of cayenne pepper, which sounds tiny, but it brings the whole dip to life. It doesnโ€™t make it spicy. It simply adds warmth, depth, and that subtle โ€œwhat is that?!โ€ flavour that keeps people coming back for more. This spinach artichoke dip is hot, creamy, cheesy, and baked until the top turns golden and bubbly. Itโ€™s velvety inside with pockets of fresh spinach, tender artichokes, and three cheeses...

Brie Bites in Puff Pastry

Brie bites in puff pastry filled with caramelized onions, fig jam, prosciutto, and rosemary on a white serving platter.

If you're looking for the kind of holiday appetizer that makes your guests pause mid-sentence, these brie bites in puff pastry are it. Theyโ€™re flaky, cheesy, sweet, savory, and have that perfect little โ€œwowโ€ moment when you bring them to the table. I use a combination of caramelized onions, creamy brie, fig jam, prosciutto, and a sprig of rosemary to create the ultimate biteโ€”layers of flavor wrapped in buttery puff pastry that bake up golden and beautiful. These are the bites I pull out when I want something elegant without fuss, and they are always the first thing to disappear. Theyโ€™re...

Green Curry Chicken and Rice (Easy One-Pot Dinner)

One-pot green curry chicken and rice topped with lime wedges and fresh cilantro in a Dutch oven.

This green curry chicken and rice has everything I want in a weeknight dinner: itโ€™s quick to prep, cozy, and packed with bold flavor. The best part? It all comes together in one pot. The jasmine rice simmers right in the coconut green curry sauce, making this one-pot green curry chicken and rice extra flavorful as it cooks. What you get is tender chicken, fluffy rice, and fresh veggies all wrapped in a creamy curry that tastes like takeout โ€” only easier and healthier. What makes this recipe special is that the rice isnโ€™t served on the side, itโ€™s part of the curry itself. That means every...
